The Kenyan Criminal Investigation Department (DCI) has announced that a man named John Kiama Wambua was arrested with his wife’s body parts in a bag after he murdered her and left overnight carrying them in a bag.
A statement issued by the Kenyan Criminal Investigation Department (DCI) says that on the night of January 22, 2025, Kenyan police officers on patrol in Haruma area of ​​Nairobi arrested John Kiama, searched him and found human body parts in a bag he was carrying.
The statement explains that John Kiama, 29, was searched because the officers immediately suspected him of carrying illegal items in his bag.
They were shocked when they opened the bag and found human body parts, they immediately took him for investigation and he unexpectedly replied that the parts belonged to his wife, Joy Fridah Munani, who was 19 years old.
When they went to his house, they found a knife, blood-stained clothes and other body parts under his bed.
John Kiama is currently in police custody and the agency added that the man will be charged with murder when he is arraigned in court in the coming days.
Kenya already has a high rate of women being killed by their husbands, with 97 women killed between August and October 2024.
