APR FC has signed Burkina Faso striker Djibril Ouattara, who was linked with Ittihad Tanger in Morocco, on a two-year deal.
Djibril Ouattara, who recently left Algerian league leaders JS Kabylie, was highly sought after by Ittihad Tanger and many reports said that the Moroccan club had already acquired him.
Reliable information IGIHE has learned is that APR FC has signed the striker on a two-year deal.
The player is expected to be a solution in APR FC’s forward line, but he will have to contend with Victor Mbaoma, Mamadou Sy and Tuyisenge Arsène, who is currently playing in that position.
He is the third player the National Defence Force has acquired this month after Ugandans Hakim Kiwanuka and Denis Omedi, who play on the wing and in the defensive line.
APR FC’s new striker’s achievements
Djibril Ouattara, 25, who grew up at Vitesse FC, was the top scorer in the Burkina Faso Championship in 2017 and 2018 while playing for ASF Bobo-Dioulasso, who won the championship at the time.
This impressive performance at the age of 18, scoring 15 goals in his final year in Burkina Faso, led to him being signed by Moroccan side RS Berkane, where he played for six years, helping them reach the final of the 2018/19 CAF Confederation Cup and win the competition in 2019/20.
He also helped them win the 2022 CAF Super Cup, reach the final of the 2023/24 CAF Confederation Cup and play in the 2021 CAF Super Cup.
In domestic competitions in Morocco, Djibril Ouattara helped RS Berkane win the national cup in 2020/21 and 2021/22.
In the 2021 and 2022 seasons, he was loaned to OC Safi in Morocco, returning to RS Berkane before the end of 2022.
In July 2024, he moved to JS Kabylie, where he had already played 13 games before terminating his contract.
In the Burkina Faso national team, he was among the players under 20 who won the Gold medal at the ‘African Games’ where he was also the top scorer.
He began playing for the National Team in 2018, and since then has played 15 matches and scored two goals, including a victory over Cameroon in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations third place play-off in February 2022.
