Elon Musk, one of the world’s richest men, best known for his tech ventures including Tesla and SpaceX, is keen to get into football.
According to his father, Errol Musk, the billionaire is keen to buy Liverpool, one of the biggest clubs in England and Europe.
Liverpool are a Premier League club. The club is owned by Fenway Sports Group (FSG), which has so far shown no interest in selling.
FSG has previously received outside investment, selling a minority stake to US-based firm Dynasty Equity in September 2023.
In an interview with Times Radio, Errol Musk said his son was keen to buy Liverpool but stressed that this did not mean he was keen, but that it would be easy.
“Yes, he wants to, and of course, who wouldn’t? But that doesn’t mean he’s going to buy it,” Wrrol Munsk said.
He continued by saying that he wouldn’t say much about the idea because it could increase the club’s value. “I wouldn’t say much because it would increase the value,” he said.
Liverpool is one of the most historically important clubs in football. The club has won the English Premier League 19 times, including the 2020 title, which came after a 30-year absence. This victory came after the 2019 Champions League, the sixth trophy the club has won in its history.
Overall, Fenway Sports Group has managed to restore Liverpool to the top of the world, and has once again made the club a pioneer in the history of European football.
Errol Musk said that he has relatives living in Liverpool and that they are friends with many prominent people in the city.
He also said that they have the opportunity to meet the members of the Beatles, who are famous in music, because they grew up near their family.
Although Elon Musk is interested in buying Liverpool, it is not yet clear whether Fenway Sports Group is ready to sell.
FSG chairman Mike Gordon recently said that they aim to continue to help the club achieve sustainable success and continue to rebuild financially.
Football fans and Liverpool fans are still waiting to see if Musk will actually make this big decision to buy this historic club.
In any case, the fact that a billionaire like Elon Musk can enter football is something that could change a lot in the way football works internationally.
