Singer Katheryn Hudson, better known by her stage name Katy Perry, is among a group of six women who will be sent into space by billionaire Jeff Bezos’ space company Blue Origin.
A statement from the company said that singer Katy Perry is one of six women who will go into space.
Blue Origin continued: “Katy Perry is proud to be one of the first women to be sent into space by Blue Origin, and hopes that her journey will inspire other women, including her daughter, to achieve great things.”
The group of six women who will be sent into space, led by Lauren Sánchez, Jeff Bezos’ girlfriend, is also preparing to get married in the coming days. This was specifically her idea for Blue Origin to send an all-female team.
Lauren Sanchez also selected other prominent women in the United States, including journalist Gayle King, astronaut Aisha Bowe, researcher Amanda Nguyen, and filmmaker Kerianne Flynn.
The women are scheduled to launch into space between May and June 2025.
Their trip to space will be the first by an all-female crew since the Soviet Union sent cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova, the first woman to do so, in 1963.
Sanchez said their trip will help them build on their knowledge of the Earth and inspire other researchers to continue their legacy.
Katy Perry, who is about to go into space, is one of the artists who has made a name for herself in the ‘Pop’ genre, and is also famous for songs such as ‘Roar’, ‘Wide Awake’ and others.
