The National Cycling Team “Team Rwanda” has been given new bicycles ahead of the international Tour du Rwanda competition scheduled from February 23 to March 2, 2025.
The riders have been complaining for some time that the bicycles they are using are not up to par with the other competitors in the races they are participating in.
This was accompanied by comments that they were few and inadequate, with some even insisting that they had last had good bicycles when President Paul Kagame gave them Pinarello Dogma F8s in 2015.
With only 10 days to go before they take part in this year’s Tour du Rwanda, Team Rwanda has received good news that they have been given new Connandole bicycles, replacing the Ridleys they were using.
On Wednesday, February 12, 2025, FERWACY Treasurer, Katabarwa Daniel, posted photos on X [formerly Twitter] showing that the new bikes had already arrived in Kigali.
In his words, he said, “The new bikes arrived ahead of the Tour du Rwanda 2025. We thank the Ministry of Sports and everyone who made it possible.”
The Secretary of State in the Ministry of Sports, Rwego Ngarambe, was one of the speakers on this message, saying, “We are moving on to the next stage. Team Rwanda will win.”
IGIHE learned that these “Cannondale SuperSix Evo 2 Carbon Sonic” bikes were purchased and used at the factory.
Team Rwanda is one of the 15 teams that will participate in this year’s Tour du Rwanda, which will consist of eight stages that will be played in all the provinces of the country.
